Online Tutorials - Pixel Perfect

The tutorial featured in class today was from a program called "Pixel Perfect with Bruce Monroy".

While the program typically deals with Photoshop techniques, he does have a few good Adobe Illustrator tutorials.

Here is a link to one of his tutorials:

Here is an OpenType tutorial from Adobe:

Project 1 - Graphic Translation - My lil Butterfly

I used a butterfly for project 1. I started off with regular thumbnails and completed my final three using the pencil tool in Illustrator. I just kept things simple using the shapes and lines given from the original image of a butterfly that I selected.

Project 1 10/15/08

For Project 1 I used a wine glass to simplify in Illustrator. What I was trying to do was to give the feel of a wine glass but take so of the elements out. I did not want to give it a a look like more vector images have, like the straight edge look. I tried to give it a look that looked more as a photograph. Another thing that I was trying to develop was giving the images shading as if I was using levels of grey in it as well. I did this by making rigid shapes that ranged from little to big. this allowed the image to have depth in it.

Project 1- Chocolate Covered Strawberry

My image was a chocolate covered strawberry. I started out with the one in the middle and did as much detail as I could while still simplifying the form. I didn't like the seeds on the strawberry so I changed them in the second one and then the final version I chose to leave them out completely. Even without them you can still tell that its a strawberry covered in chocolate.

Assignement 1 - Fall 08

This blog is a forum for my class in Digital Illustration at the Art Institute Tampa to share their work and comments with each other via the web. The first assignment was to create three vector based, stylized interpretations of a simple object in black and white.
